Recension: Oxbow Daily C

Marsvin får i sig nästan allt de behöver från sitt hö, men en vitamin deras kost måste kompletteras med är c-vitamin. Vanligtvis får marsvinen i sig tillräckligt med c-vitamin från sin dagliga grönsaksdos, men om man är osäker på om det är tillräckligt eller om marsvinet inte äter tillräckligt med grönsaker kan det kännas skönt med ett tillskott. Av just den anledningen köpte jag Oxbows Daily C tabletter. En tablett täcker ett vuxet marsvins dagliga behov av c-vitamin och 90 tabletter kostar ca 110 kronor.

Guinea pigs get almost everything they need from hay, but one vitamin that their diet needs to be supplemented with is vitamin C. Normally they will get enough vitamin C from their daily vegetables, but if you are unsure if it is enough or if the guinea pig doesn’t eat enough veggies it can be good to give a supplement. For this particular reason I bought Oxbows Daily C tablets. One tablet is enough to cover a grown piggys daily need for vitamin C and 90 tablets cost about 110 SEK.

Huvudanledningen till att jag köpte tabletterna är att Vanilj börjat visa mindre intresse för grönsaker på senaste tiden. Hon äter lite grand, men långt innan grönsakerna är uppätna springer hon in i buren och övergår till att äta hö istället.

The main reason I bought these tablets is because Vanilj has started showing less interest in vegetables lately. She eats a little, but long before the veggies are all eaten she runs into the cage to eat hay instead.

Vid smaktestet idag tog Vanilj en tugga och sedan ignorerade hon resten av tabletten. Tyvärr är det inte första gången, jag har försökt ge henne tabletterna vid en handfull olika tillfällen men hon vägrar äta dem. Även om jag får henne att ta den i munnen så spottar hon bara ut den. De andra marsvinen äter dock glatt tabletterna som godis.

At the taste test today Vanilj took one bite and then ignored the rest of the tablet. Unfortunately it is not the first time, I have tried to feed her the tablets on a handfull of different occasions but she refuses to eat them. Even if I get her to take it in her mouth she just spits it out. The other piggies eat the tablets like candy though.

Recension: Vitakraft hö med vildrosor

Till min stora förvåning har min lokala matbutik äntligen tagit in en produkt för marsvin som inte är skräpmat! Detta måste naturligtvis uppmuntras så jag köpte hem en påse av den nya produkten Vitakraft hö med vildrosor för att låta marsvinen smaka. Påsen innehåller 500 gram och kostade 24 kronor. Innehållet är 97% hö och 3% vildrosor. (P.S. påsen på bilden är halvtom)

To my suprise our local grocery store has finally started to carry a product for guinea pigs that isn’t junk food! I had to support that so I bought a bag of the new product Vitakraft hay with wild roses for the guinea pigs to try. The bag contains 500 grams and kost 24 SEK. Contents are 97% hay and 3% wild roses. (P.S. the bag in the picture is half empty)

Så här ser det ut, vanligt hö med torkade rosenblad. Jag har testat det på marsvinen och de älskar det! Med tanke på att det är dyrare än vanligt hö så ger jag dem det i samband med det vanliga höet, så har de några extra mumsiga strån att leta efter.

This is what it looks like, regular hay with dried rose petals. I tried it out on the piggies and they loved it! Considering that it is a bit more expensive than regular hay I give it together with the regular hay, that way they have something yummy to forage for.
